The Port of Southampton is Britain's second largest container port handling approximately 2 million TEU annually. Due to it's location the port benefits from a unique "double-tide" which results in the worlds largest container vessels being able to access the port for almost 80 percent of the time.
Situated only 80 miles from London and 140 miles from Birmingham, its container terminals process 2000 container vehicles and 23 trains on a daily basis and provide good access to Britain’s industrial heartlands and commercial centres.
Although based near the Port of Felixstowe, Bridge Shipping have direct computer links to the Port of Southampton and can provide the same efficient service for customs clearance at Southampton as it can at Felixstowe. In fact with the vast majority of customs entries being processed through the customs clearance hub at Salford there really is no need to be based within the port itself and that is why many clients use our services irrespective of the port of arrival.
In addition to customs clearance at Southampton, we offer a full delivery service once your goods are ready to move or indeed can also offer short or long term storage including a customs bonded storage facility. Delivery services are co-ordinated through our haulage department at our Felixstowe office and this service ties in seamlessly with our clearance service. Once clearance is effected, you are contacted by our haulage department to discuss the delivery arrangements – once you have appointed Bridge Shipping we will over-see the whole process from arrival, customs clearance to final delivery.
