The Port of Tilbury is a gateway to London and the South East and with easy access to the M25 motorway. The port handles a variety of cargoes including containers, bulk and grain and is also serviced by numerous ERTS (enhanced remote transit sheds) facilities which enable import cargoes to be customs cleared inland away from the port itself.
The Northfleet Hope Berth was built in 1978 and was the first purpose built container berth in the UK however since then the port has developed and expanded. Due to its close proximity to London it is the port of choice of several major shipping lines.
Bridge Shipping has direct computer links to the port systems at Tilbury and can handle customs clearance at Tilbury and the surrounding ERTS facilities from its office near Felixstowe. As with customs clearance at Southampton, there is no need for us to be located within the port area as computerised clearance results in an update to the port’s own systems. In the vast majority of cases we can have cargo cleared within 10 mintues of its arrival at the port of Tilbury and this fast service is used by numerous freight forwarders who know that they can rely on us day in and day out.
Our daily collection services from the local inland clearance sheds (ERTS) and our full range of container delivery options enables us to offer fast and cost-efficient delivery of your goods once they have become available.
